Barbecued Beef Pie

Barbecued Beef Pie


Serve this flavorful ground beef pie with a tossed salad for a simple and tasty meal.

Ingredients:

  • 1 1/2 pounds lean ground beef
  • 1 can (approximately 15 ounces) stewed tomatoes
  • 3/4 cup chopped onion
  • 1/2 cup chopped green pepper
  • 1/2 cup sliced celery
  • 1/3 cup sweet pickle relish
  • 1/2 cup ketchup
  • 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 2 teaspoons salt
  • 2 teaspoons chili powder
  • 1 teaspoon paprika
  • 1/4 teaspoon pepper
  • 1 package (10 ounces) cornbread mix, or 1 recipe cornbread batter

Preparation:

Brown ground beef; add all ingredients except cornbread batter. Simmer mixture for 20 minutes; pour into a 9-inch square baking dish.
Meanwhile, prepare cornbread batter according to package directions; spoon over meat mixture. Bake at 425° for 15 minutes, or until cornbread topping is golden brown.
Serves 6.
