Southern Spoon Bread

Southern Spoon Bread

1 cup meal
2 sticks butter
3 T. sugar
1/2 teaspoon salt
4 cups milk
6 eggs

Heat milk and butter to boiling. Add meal, sugar, and salt together. Stir until thick. Set aside to cool, then add egg yolks, and blend well. Just before baking add well-beaten egg whites [fold in well]. Serve immediately.
