Jack Oakie was one of Hollywood's most successful comedians. He worked frequently on the radio and on screen in the 1930s and 1940s. His movies were some of the most profitable ones made at the major studios, and by the time he retired, he had appeared in almost 90 productions. When he wasn't entertaining audiences, he was busy running a large ranch in the San Fernando Valley, where he grew citrus and raised hounds.
In a paperback cookbook that was published in the early 30s when he was starring in a series of college musicals at Paramount, he shared a recipe for breakfast muffins. The directions are fairly simple and easy to follow. Here it is:
