Jook is the Cantonese word for congee/rice porridge/rice gruel. It is much more delicious than the name "rice gruel" implies. Jook is prepared by boiling cooked rice in a lot of water for a long time, until it starts to disintegrate. Other ingredients may be added (see http://www.eatingchina.com/recip...). It is a breakfast staple and is an excellent food for when you are sick.
