The original recipe was floating around my office way back in the 70′s as a way to add punch to boxed cake mixes and is sometimes referred to as a “pudding cake.” Today’s cake mixes already have pudding in the mix, but the additional pudding makes for an even moister texture. I’ve used a fudge cake mix, dark chocolate pudding, and dark chocolate chips to get that dark, rich chocolate flavor. The best part is that it goes together in a matter of minutes.
