More cookies this week! If, like me, you're in the throes of holiday baking, it's good to know where you can make a few key substitutions here and there to keep fat and calories in check. Of course, it's not just the fat we need to watch out for; it's the sugar too, and these are undoubtedly "sweet" sweet treats. So be sure to exercise a little portion control, remembering that low fat does not necessarily mean low calorie.

Despite trying to make these cookies low fat, I still firmly believe a little butter is necessary with these. I use just a 1/4 cup, which is half a stick. If you prefer, you can use a trans-fat-free baking stickformulated from vegetable oils, which contains significantly less saturated fat than butter.
