Home cheesemaking has so many things going for it that I'm surprised more people don't do it.
For starters, it can be really easy to do, and the results are often much tastier than store-bought versions (homemade ricotta is a creamy treat far superior to any commercial brand.) And you get to leave out the fillers, food colorings and stabilizers often added to commercial dairy products.
Need more incentive to give cheesemaking a try? You'll reduce your carbon footprint because there won't be any plastic containers or wrapping to get rid of. And most of the time, DIY dairy products will save you money.
How easy is it to make your own cheese? Try queso blanco and paneer, both of which require only two ingredients and very little active time in the kitchen.
